FEATURED ATHLETES

At Paleo/Primal Long Island, we seek to improve all aspects of health, but we also specialize in improving athletic performance.  Here are just some of the many high-level athletes working with us.

MIKE "THE CAVEMAN" KUHN

While also the owner and operator of Paleo/Primal Long Island, Mike is also an actively competitive athlete.  A lifelong athlete with nearly 20 years of martial arts experience, he also set records in powerlifting at SUNY Cortland.  After winning gold medals in national submission grappling and  international judo tournaments, he moved onto mixed martial arts, where he became the inaugral WKA NYS MMA Bantamweight champion while fighting for the New York Fight Exchange (NYFE) organization.

CHRISSY "THE DOLL" YANDOLLI

Chrissy first came to the Paleo/Primal lifestyle almost 2 years ago, while preparing for her amateur mixed martial arts debut.  After 12 years as an amateur kickboxer, she always found it difficult to lose weight in a healthy way, while keeping up energy for training. After several discussions with Mike and Kim, she finally took the plunge.    For the first time, she felt energetic and not deprived of food while putting her body through a rigorous training schedule. After she won, she chose to continue her Paleo journey and has really embraced all of the health benefits that it has to offer! Like Kim, she is vital in helping find content and is truly looking forward to inspiring other people through Paleo/Primal Long Island!!

"ICE COLD" BOBBY BODDEN

Robert Bodden is a martial artist who has been training since he was eight years old. As he began to progress into mixed martial arts, he met Mike at Long Island MMA. He began to learn about the effects of proper nutrition and how it applies to mixed martial arts, particularly with respect to losing weight safely and effectively while still feeling and performing at the highest level.  His success speaks for itself as he is currently the undefeated (4-0) welterweight champion of the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) organization.

JOSEPH "THE SAINT" NINOMIYA

Joseph Ninomiya is a martial artist with fourteen years of experience. He began training at the age of six and currently holds a second degree black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do, as well as a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He joined Long Island MMA at the age of fifteen and has since been training in Muay Thai, Wrestling, Jiu Jitsu, and Boxing to become a true mixed martial artist. After several exciting fights at the NYFE, he is a rising bantamweight title contender.

JULIA MESZAROS

Julia joined Long Island Strength & Performance in September 2014 after realizing she wanted to challenge herself with something new, and break her plateau.   In January, she decided she wanted to continue to challenge myself and take part in something competitive again, as she was an athlete growing up and through college. She set a goal to compete for the USPA and USAPL this summer and will be competing in August. She likes powerlifting as it challenges her and her body in ways she didn't think possible. Moreover, Julia loves being apart of something that influences the movement that women can be strong and athletic, to break away from the stigma that women in our society need to be "weak", and to continue to surpass limits she once placed upon herself.
